 Vanodine
is MORE than just a disinfectant. It inactivates ALL
types of organisms. Viruses, bacteria and even fungi,
whereas most disinfectants are selective in what they
kill.

V.18 and FAM
inactivate all types of organisms. Bacteria, fungus and
viruses!
Snuffles / Bordatella / Pasturella Control
Disinfection is essential in the rabbitry! Seasonal changes,
extreme heat and humidity can cause an increase in rabbit
'colds' and 'snuffles' caused by pasturella, bordatella
and other pathogens which live naturally in and around
rabbits. Anyone who raises rabbits knows these can be devastating
to a rabbitry within a matter of hours. Vanodine is used
in prevention and to control spread. During regular cleaning
of
pans and cages - spray all cages, crocks and equipment
easily and quickly.
No need to scrub things down with bleach,
and no need to remove their food and water. If you see
a rabbit who is starting to show signs of sickness such
as weepy eye, runny nose or sneezing, use
Customer Comment
"Just want to let you know how wonderful the vanodine
product is, we use it daily in our rabbitry and also
have used it when we had a dog show up at our house with
parvo, we were able to spray this product around inside
and out before we brought home our own new puppy. I also
have to say that even though it says it does not help
with killing things inside if given orally, we put vanodine
in the water my sister's dog drank as they were showing
signs of early parvo after her son brought home the puppy
that had it, with in 48 hours of keeping vanodine water
in front of her dogs they lost they symptoms they had.
I do believe it helped since we got to them early. It
also has been wonderful in the rabbitry as well and recommend
it to everyone." ~ Lisa, Washington

Vanodine immediatelyto thoroughly disinfect the cage and
anything the rabbit has touched. Use
to wash your hands between handling of the infected rabbits.
If you have a shared watering system, use the water sanitation
amount in your lines. This will help prevent your water
lines from spreading illness!
Nestbox Fungus and Bacteria
Nest boxes can easily harbor fungus and bacteria due to the
moist and sometimes soiled conditions. These linger even
when cleaned with water between litters and thoroughly dried.
Fungus and other problems can quickly transfer to the baby's
skin causing lesions and other problems. A mother is more
resistant to these things and doesn't always show what she
is carrying, she can pass fungus and bacteria along to the
nest box for the next litter. If you don't want to use harsh
chemicals like bleach to clean and prevent spread of disease,
also note that some disinfectants do not kill fungus at
all, some are selective in what they kill. Many disinfectants
do not work on soiled surfaces and require a thorough cleansing
with detergent BEFORE applying the disinfectant. Vanodine
and FAM take care of thing completely, in 1 step.
Thoroughly soak each nest box between litters to protect
from the spread of disease and fungus.
Water Line Disinfection -Without Bleach!
Vanodine can be
added to the water in watering systems in order to reduce
the number of harmful bacteria in the water. The dilution
rates are on the bottle and also listed on this site. Simply
put the recommended amount directly into your watering
system. No more bleach flushing once a month! The Vanodine
and FAM control your viruses and bacteria within the shared
watering system. They also control pseudomonas which can
develop in watering systems.
Note: At the dilution
used for drinking, it would not be effective against a number
of microorganisms. It is not intended to kill disease within
the animal only to kill pathogens in the water which can
be a source of infection for the livestock. Organic matter
(dirt) can render it ineffective at low concentrations, so
do not rely on the small amount floating round the system
to keep it completely clear of infection. Watering systems
still need to be regularly cleaned and disinfected to prevent
disease transmission from one cage to the next. You can do
this with the 'disinfection' dilution of Vanodine listed
on the bottle.
Why is it more effective than Betadine
& Bleach for your rabbitry?
Povidone/Betadine and Bleach
are not for use on unclean surfaces. Both
are inactivated in the presence of dirt or urine etc because
they must be in direct contact with whatever they are killing.
You can spray bleach and povidone on a cage but
if you haven't thoroughly scrubbed it with detergent first...you're
not helping. Both Povidone and Bleach must be in contact
with the bacteria and viruses. Povidone is actually an
antiseptic which provides a 'flash' cleansing
of the immediate surface with an immediate release of iodine.
Therefore it is good for "already clean" wounds
before surgery. But is is not effective for cages
or equipment that are somewhat dirty. Vanodine is
a iodophor and does contain iodine (like Betadine) but
also also contains 'surfactants'. These
are kind of a detergent in itself. Vanodine releases
the iodine slowly as it cleanses. It works through the
organic matter and releases the iodine as it goes.
And
of course, Bleach is also an
irritant. It is not advisable
to breath or touch or drink a bleach solution.
Bleach
breaks down metal. Overtime it will corrode your cages
and equipment. Vanodine is very gentle when diluted
properly and does not require cage rinsing after use. Vanodine
is also biodegradable.
Cost Effective
It can be diluted into convenient hand held
spray amounts for shows and for disinfection of small areas
but is economical enough to make in vast quantities and spray
down entire areas. Vanodine is roughly 27 cents per gallon
of disinfectant. FAM is a stronger version of Vanodine
and is used recommend for for kennels and other larger
animal facilities. Active Vanodine and FAM are amber or
brown in color. Once it has lost its color it is time to
make a new batch. Vanodine and FAM have a typical shelf
life of 3 years!
How
does it work: Vanodine
and FAM kill bacteria, viruses and fungi.
The unique properties of Vanodine
allow it to work even in the presence of organic material
(dirt, urine and soiled areas). Most disinfectants (including
bleach) require you to thoroughly scrub the area with detergent
before application. This is because they do not work as a
detergent themselves. Vanodine
takes care of both in one step. Just thoroughly wet
the area and it disinfects as it works its way down through
the soiled area. Just let dry and go!
